Creating a Blog for your Network Marketing Business

There is a saying around the Internet that "Content is King" and having a blog and blogging are some of the best ways to capitalize on that. Having a blog is just about essential if you want to even exist online. You should have one if you are the least bit serious about your business. What is a blog? It is a website of articles that you write. Creating a blog is not that hard at all. Here are a few tips to get you started:

1. Choose a blog platform. I have a Wordpress blog built into my Website, but I also have a Blogger blog in which I rotate in use. I am using a Blogger blog to write this post on right now. But there are also blogs such as WordpressTypepad and Squarespace that you could use. Some people use a blog as their main website until they grow enough to invest in a custom website.

2. Posting on a Blog is usually as simple as 1, 2, 3. You enter the Title, then you have the Body which should consist of a couple of paragraphs, a photo etc; and then you have the Labels or Tags which identify the main topic of the posts. This is where your old fashioned "Book Report" skills from Elementary School come in handy. The art of short, effective storytelling is key!

3. Keep It Simple. Do not write a book. People usually read blogs while browsing the web and do not have 15 minutes to set aside to read your post. Post a photo and get to the point. Stick to 150 - 300 words. Readers like good information that is easy to follow. Use numbers (1, 2, 3) or bullets to meet your key offerings. Do a blog post like you would write an email. Start doing one blog post per month, then one per week, and then whatever you are comfortable with distributing. Do not just write to write. Write with a plan and purpose, and lead people in the right direction.

In the Network Marketing world, there are many people starting blogs so they can landmark their business in the search engine (Google) results for the folks doing a search. In each blog post, link to your Website and/or Facebook page, and show people what you have to offer. Make good points about your product or service and get it out there for people to see.

Once you do create and post the blog, you are now ready to distribute. Share the posts on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, ScoopIt, Tumblr and other online sites. You can also send it by email to your contacts, friends and family. Get a plan of sharing down on a checklist and do it each and every time you post a new blog. Ask people to re-share it and make comments. Be courteous but do not be shy. And last but not least, support your other team members who have created a blog and social media of their own.

  3. A blog is a place where your prospects can learn more about you. Since trust is a major issue on the internet for a lot of people, a blog helps to build trust in the eyes of your prospects. Your blog can include pictures of yourself or your family, personal information about you, and helpful training.

Also, you can create your blog to demonstrate your abilities as a leader. When you position yourself as an expert in the industry, people will want to follow you. You want to brand yourself so that you are recognized by many people in the industry.
